Our mission is to develop healthy families with access to education and employment opportunities. Operating in the Dominican province of Peravia, our work began as a school, addressing the literacy obstacles preventing children in the area from admission to local schools, and quickly grew into a ministry that provides medical and dental services, distributes clothing, medicine and food donations, and that actively engages local governments to provide a better living for their communities.
Before the recent pandemic, we were working hard to expand our school and accommodate our growing wait list of Dominican and Haitian children in desperate need of an education. Our work has stalled as we have diverted resources to provide medical support to their families. We need your help more than ever. Learn more about our work below and how you can be a part of it.
"Before dedicating myself to the ministry in 2012, I was an early-childhood education teacher in New York City. After a car accident left me disabled, I also lost my father to Alzheimer's. I fought depression and reclaimed my God-given calling while visiting the village where he raised me, and renovated his hand-built house into the school that became the foundation of El Niño Rey Ministry.
From turning strips of fabric into caps and gowns to celebrate our graduates, to driving 3,000 miles to collect hundreds of used children's books, my team has always done the most with the blessings we come by. Your donations provide food, clothing, medical and classroom supplies and fund much needed structural improvements that expand our school and provide access to clean water.
Current times have been exceptionally hard on these families, our lunch lines have grown as the kids in our village continue to lose caregivers. But love and support are not bound, and neither are the dreams we instill in our children. While the world feels divided and distant, you have the ability to reach across oceans and borders to make a lasting impact."
Thank you,
